Hailing from the UK, Southampton girl Charley Macaulay is no stranger to the music industry. Having forged an envious career for someone so young by playing ‘real music, for real people’, at the tender age of 19 Charley already won the national 2009 Live and Unsigned competition and has since self-financed the release of her ‘Debut EP’, supported acts such as Anastacia, Will Young, Omar and Ruby Turner. Unfortunately this young artist was recently left disappointed when, at a moments notice, her support act booking for a Sir Tom Jones event was cancelled when Jones fell victim to bronchitis! Charley has noted that one of her personal highlights last year was performing at Mama Stones in front of a packed crowd which included her idol Joss Stone and 'Busted' sensation Charlie Simpson.
It is now a pleasure to reveal that Charley’s hard work and determination has now paid off in the form of her first record contract to the legendary Acid Jazz Records. Her mature and soulful voice made an incredible impression on Radio 6 DJ and founder of Acid Jazz Records Eddie Piller; an industry mogul who has been responsible for launching careers of the likes of Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, The James Taylor Quartet and many others. In April of this year the label offered Charley a three-album deal and snapped up her signature with haste, of which her first single and album is due for release in August 2013 as she ventures into a whole new era of her career.
This summer, Charley can be seen all over the country as she begins a UK Tour in August 2013 in which she will be performing alongside the likes of The Killers, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bastille, Artful Dodger and Trevor Nelson at The Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival, Blissfields and Party in the Park in Southampton.
